Chhavi did her Ph.D from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in biochemistry. She worked for five years at the National Institutes of Health (Bethesda, USA), as a visiting scientist at Universidad de Chile (Valparaiso), and Marine Biology Laboratory (Woods Hole, USA). Following this, she worked in a DBT-funded citizen science project geared towards science education at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (Pune, India) as a life science and data science team lead. She is fond of reading, poetry, theatre, dance, and museums. She is interested in exploring how art and (micro)museums can be used to bring scientific attitudes into everyday discourse.
